Life Lately - September Life

Here is a life lately post from September.

Lucy got her confirmation Bible at church - sweet girl!

She spends Sunday mornings at church and Sunday afternoons playing Fall Ball. We love watching our slugger play.

I had a work trip to San Diego this fall - this was my view from my hotel room. I have been to California lots of time but never San Diego. What a fun place! It was so beautiful - this is the view from my hotel room. Sadly, I arrived during an unseasonably cool stretch so it was actually warmer back in Wisconsin for most of the week. What the heck?!

Back at the ranch, Dan kept me updated with the latest. Lucy posed with a big ol' watermelon from the land! Roman wrote a rap to perform with some other kids in his 4th grade class.

Leo has been obsessed with 'sticker by number' books lately. Here he is with one of his Halloween pages.

Meanwhile, I snapped photos of art in outdoor spaces.

There was a vendor at the event who was gifting a couple of surf boards to youth groups/underprivileged kids who wanted to learn so we had a chance to decorate.

Here I am trying to win some door prizes - spoiler alert, didn't happen. :(

I returned to the midwest and promptly went out to lunch with Nola. We chose a place was participating in Chippewa Valley Restaurant week. Look at this dessert - Raspberry cake for the win!

I got caught in a downpour during one of Roman's baseball games!

You know it is September when we bust out the blaze orange!

We love to bake during the autumn months.

Roman attended his friend Alex's 10th birthday party at a card shop called For the Hobby. He had the best night ever! I had to laugh because it looked like he was celebrating in some back office. Pretty much his Uncle Austin's dream party from 1992. ;)

Here are the boys with the shop owner Jordan.

In September we busted out the Halloween jammies and decorations.

Leo participated in gymnastics class - his favorite part is bouncing on the giant trampoline.

Leo's siblings sometimes come along to the Sports Center to support their brother play video games.

We worked on Halloween craft projects.

We loved on Ranger as much as we could in advance of his upcoming abdominal surgery.

Our happy 4Ker enjoys wearing band shirts like his big brother. Leo also loves coloring projects like these big dragon prints. This guy is a Rainbow dragon.

Leo was delighted to find an invite to his friend Henry's birthday party in his cubby at school. Paw Patrol movie for the win!

We spent our after school time playing with Prince the leopard gecko and doing some sidewalk chalk art.

Leo has been working on his writing skills at 4K - here is the most precious little note where he wrote Leo and Mom. So proud of him!

Sometimes on Fridays Leo's classroom does special things like a cookie baking event. Here is our happy little chef.

We went to a Junie B. Jones performance at the Children's Theater.

Grammy Nola came with too -- As always, it was a great show!

We played a lot of baseball and softball.

Oh yeah, we enjoyed a lot of concessions along the way!
Lucy sadly lost a big pretzel and cheese in a downpour earlier in the season (see my photo earlier in this post) so she was glad to purchase a replacement later in Roman's season.

Roman tried to be intimidating on the field by using baseball eye black to create a Mario mustache. Haha!

Very grateful that Roman had lots of opportunities to pitch this fall.

This wagon remains the MVP of our sports activities - it is the best way to transport chairs, equipment and snacks! It also serves as a super chair and nap spot.

After our games, we visited our local library and I won a travel coffee mug! Woohoo!

The kids always make a beeline to the iPads when we visit; I had to snap this picture of Leo at the devices. Just love those chubby cheeks and the headphones barely touching his little ears.

Here is Roman with his haul of books. These children really do love to read!

And one last Fall painting session to close out the month.

Happy Fall!

Apple Picking 2023

We had the best Saturday picking apples with the cousins. First stop - the ball diamonds to watch Roman play some fall baseball. Leo is a great sport; he spends lots of time at his siblings' games! He looks like a pro fan here: sunglasses - check, wagon full of toys and snacks - check.

It was such a treat to play in the dirt with James and Neal during this game.

Our next stop was the apple orchard! We went to Bushel and a Peck this season.

Our time started out nice and sunny on the playground. We did get some apple cider donuts as a snack but, guess what - they were consumed before I could even take a picture!

You can see the clouds rolling in as we measured the kids.

You know we had to measure the tallest and shortest people in our family!

This picture is my favorite! The cutest boys - not quite 4 feet tall this autumn.

We all hopped on the tractor and made our way to the orchard.

We picked lots of apples.

And we enjoyed some bites while we worked.

There were just a few sprinkles but nothing major, it was so much fun!

Precious Teddy was along for the event too.

We limited our harvest to apples during this trip but we did see the pumpkin patch during our walk back to the store.

The patch was full of Peanuts characters and you better believe that whenever we see a Lucy, we need to take a picture with our own Lucy.

Here is Farmer Neal with his crew!

There happened to be some reenactment rendezvous people camping by the pumpkin patch. They invited the children to try axe throwing.

Our championship thrower? Ms. Lucy Storm! This little lady got a bullseye.

You go girl!

It was such a good day, grateful that the Cihacek family could catch a game and join us at the orchard!
