Grammy Nola Visits + Leo is 5 months old!

Late May is Daniel’s very busy time of year due to the fawn capture so we were lucky to have both Grandmas and a few cousins visit us in Rhinelander and help hold down the fort.

As you can see, Leo was thrilled to snuggle with his Grammy Nola!

Grandma would routinely pick up the big kids from school and take them on little adventures like a quick visit to Pioneer Park. Both of my big kids are complete monkeys on the play equipment!

During Grammy's stay, our Leo turned 5 months old!
I just love smooching those big cheeks.

At 5 months our big guy was not quite sitting up.

But he is always full of big smiles and baby laughs for us.

We had our last music class with Ms. Joanne so we celebrated at the park. We held a special class outside, had a picnic, and played at Pioneer park with our music friends.

We marched in a little parade.

Leo loves watching the older children.

It was such a fun morning, we will miss our Saturday morning classes with Ms. Joanne and friends!

If you look closely at the train you will see Maggie, Roman, Sarah, and Lucy.

We will also miss our friend Miriam! The O'Caseys were one of our first friends up North and these girls have been playing together since they were in diapers. Miriam and her family moved to San Antonio this summer. Hopefully we can make it down to Texas some time to visit them!

Grammy Sharon & the Cousins Visit Rhinelander

As previously blogged about, Grandma Sharon and the older girl cousins came to visit Rhinelander while Dan was out capturing fawns at the end of May. It was so nice to have an extra set of hands to help with the babe and to have some cousins around for play time. Abby & Anna were already out of school for the summer but Lucy and Roman still had a few more weeks of book learning before summer vacation. So, after a very fun Memorial Day weekend, Lucy went back to school. The big kids spent the morning playing outside in her absence.

Then everyone headed to school to eat lunch with Lucy. I am not joking when I say that this was probably one of the best days of Lucy's life. Her favorite worlds collided - her dear cousins and her best friends from Pelican Elementary. So much fun. A big thank you to grandma for taking these pictures. Now that we have moved away from Rhinelander, these pics are some of Lucy's most treasured items! She loves looking at them, seeing her cousins/brother and remembering her besties from up North - Kelsie, Khloe, Rhyan, Kylor, and Peter!

Here are Anna, Lucy, Abby & Roman enjoying their Lunchables!

When I came home from work on that night, I found out that my house had been transformed into a luau beach party! Hahaha!

Dollar Store run for the win - here is our sweet King Leo in the middle.

What a fun party!

Even Lucy’s mermaid became a sweet decoration.

Another ‘must have’ from the Dollar store was this silly desk sign that Lucy picked out! The Dollar Tree has all kinds of ‘treasures’. Lol!

We had one more night of snuggles and matching pajama time before Grandma Sharon and the big girls hit the road. Thanks for spending Memorial Day weekend with us!

Bay Beach Nature Center

We woke up early on Memorial Day morning and headed downstairs for some hotel breakfast before making our way to the Bay Beach Nature Center in Green Bay.

We had a slow early morning, the kids hung out and watched television while we fed the baby, organized, got everything packed up, etc.

The weather was a bit chilly (unlike the day before at the amusement park) but this little pack was eager to explore the Bay Nature Center. It is such an awesome facility and it is free. What a great gift to the Green Bay community!

We quickly found our favorite turtle shell. :)

We also saw some real turtles along the way.

This was the first adventure where Leo spent a bunch of time in the stroller instead of a frontpack. He loved it - he got to see all kinds of cool stuff on this trip.

Roman spotted the Badger right away! On Wisconsin! :)

Lucy found a giant goose. You guys - there were so many geese at Bay Beach! More geese than I have ever seen in my life! More on that later in the post ...

How perfect is Leo's little face in this picture? Just smiling alongside a bear ...

After we finished exploring inside the Nature Center, we headed outside on the trails. I just love this picture of the kids.

We measured ourselves against a bear standing on his hind legs.
Roman and Abby just might be the same height, pretty darn close anyway ... They are the same shoe size these days!

Lucy and Romy also measured themselves against the wolf.

We saw a wolf in real life!

We also saw some deer up close. They were happy to get some pets from the human visitors.

This guy looked from his stroller. :) We had his little hood up to help keep him warm on this brisk day at the end of May.

As we walked away from the deer enclosure down the path toward the waterfall, we saw so many baby geese! They were everywhere!

You had to be careful and watch your step around these birds.

There was also a random turkey hanging out among these geese. The children loved seeing all of the birds ... we had to do a thorough goose poop check on shoes before getting back in the car. Bad news - the stroller wheels definitely rolled through some bird poo. Ugh.

We stopped at the water fall.

Here is a pick without the bunny ears. ;)

We fed the geese ...

And then we went to McDonalds to feed ourselves. The McDonald's in Green Bay has a special green and gold tribute so we needed to take a picture! Go Pack Go!

And since we were in one of Wisconsin's most sacred spots, we stopped by Lambeau field for a quick pic (mostly to send/mock our Viking-loving family members).

The tulips were in full bloom at the Packer's Stadium.

We had the best holiday weekend in Green Bay and returned home in time to relax and build a giant fort! Thanks for visiting Bay Beach with us Grandma Sharon, Anna & Abby!
