Thanksgiving Part 1

The L's and I made a trip to South Dakota for a pre-Thanksgiving celebration! We made lots of stops for food and treats along the way. We started our journey with a visit to 7Brew in Eau Claire.

We stopped at Panera in the Twin Cities for supper. Can you tell that Leo had pj day at school?

We zipped through the Dairy Queen drive through in Lake Crystal - as soon as we pulled up to the intercom the lights flickered off. We were just a minute or two ahead of their close time but the team graciously made us a couple of blizzards before turning off their machines for the evening.

We finally made it to Grandpa and Grandma's house where a couple of cousins were anxiously awaiting a sleepover. ;)

The next morning we worked on lefse making!

Lucy was a quick learner! Yum!

We had our pup with us since Dan was out deer hunting - love taking him out in the field behind Mom and Dad's house.

The big news from South Dakota is that Mom and Dad are getting ready to move. The area behind them is rapidly changing from a rural to an industrial area. The you can see an Amazon warehouse and a frozen food company on the horizon, you know that the landscape is different. These guys have not looked at the housing market since the Reagan Administration so the search for a new place to live is a whole new adventure! I was happy to pop into some open houses with them over the weekend.

On Saturday night we went downtown - the boys loved seeing the new ice skating rink!

Lucy wanted me to send this picture to the guys at deer camp. Hah!

We had to visit the holiday light show at the Falls.

I know I say this all the time but I still have a hard time wrapping my head around how much work the city has done at Falls Park. Less than 25 years ago when I worked at I-29 Brick and Tile in this same area, this park was NOT nice! What a transformation!

Winter wonderland!

As you can see in our photos, we were missing Dan and Roman on this trip to South Dakota.
No worries, they were living their best lives at deer camp with their crew.
Roman adores spending time with Karl.

No better way to spend a November day!

Grandpa got one too!

In Sioux Falls we celebrated our first Thanksgiving of the season!

Can't forget the kids table! ;)

On this Sunday the Packers were playing the Vikings - you can see that Austin was watching the game on his phone while we were enjoying our feast. Just like the Pilgrims would have done, right!?!

We thoroughly enjoyed time with the cousins.

We snuggled with Ranger.

We got more photos from the Wisconsin deer hunters!

We played many rounds of Racko!

The next day I worked from Mom and Dad's while the L's helped decorate the house for Christmas!
The tackled both the downstairs space...

And the upstairs tree!

So grateful for our friends and family.

Mid-November Happenings

This November the L's and I went to Stevens Point for a swim meet. Of course we drove through Wausau on our way which means that we had to stop at our favorite consignment shop - Nice as New. ;) There were all kinds of holiday treasures on display.

We found a bunch of nice workbooks and drawing materials for Mr. Leon.

I found this sweet SoDak sweatshirt!

Our next stop was for Mexican food in beautiful Stevens Point. Delish!

This lil goofball was in his happy place - salsa and chips for the win!

Back in Eau Claire Dan and Roman enjoyed a meal in the Mall Food Court. ;) The Indian food in Chippewa is definitely better but in a pinch ...

Leo was living his best hotel life.

We lounged in the pool area.

We enjoyed a hotel lobby breakfast.

We stopped by Starbucks before we headed to the YMCA. The red holiday cups were out! Leo was thrilled to get a hot chocolate. Can you tell that his sister gave him winter nails? ;)

Another weekend, another swim meet.

So fun to watch our girlie do what she loves.
Lucy won a Best in Heat ribbon! It was a great Sunday afternoon at the pool.

We got home and Leo worked on writing the names of family members + a list of family pets both living and those who have crossed the rainbow bridge.

This fall Leo has been in a basketball clinic. This is a child that does not like getting out of his comfort zone so he often throws a fit when we say, 'Time for Basketball!' but once we are there he does just fine. Go figure!!

We are often at the pool these days - here is our swimmer at a Northstar meet. Love cheering for our girl!

Ken and Nola brought Ranger out to the land and sent this picture - love to see these two snuggling together. Chester doesn't always want to get too close so it makes me happy to see them sharing a lil doggie bed.

Speaking of getting Leo out of his comfort zone, we have him enrolled in wrestling this season. Same story - he always panics before practice and then has a good experience. It is good to get this guy moving, especially in the Fall and Winter time.

One last event of note from mid-November - our beloved 'Black Friday' sale at Hope Gospel Mission. These guys always have big sale one Friday ahead of Black Friday and the entire thrift store is half off.

It is always a zoo but Nola and I love going!
