This year Roman requested a Hulk birthday party. Mama broadened the scope of the party to include all superheroes and started poking around Pinterest for ideas a couple of weeks before the big event. :)
First up - we made this cake together with the Hulk busting out! Roman thought this was pretty cool. :) Green frosting - check! Hulk action figure - check! Little Oreos to fill in the extra space - check!

I depend on the Dollar Store for all of my children's birthday party decor! Haha! I got some plain yellow and green Party favor bags and quickly transformed them into Batman and Hulk bags with the help of a Sharpie.

I am so lucky to have a kiddo with a late summer birthday. August birthdays = party in a park! I don't need to clean my house, I don't need to reserve a venue for a party, it is the best! :) We held Romy's party at Pioneer Park this year. Based on my Pinterest browsing I knew that I wanted to do a Super Hero 'obstacle course.' I did a little brainstorming with a co-worker and was able to put these games together with stuff that we already had around the house plus just a few purchases from the Dollar Store.
Here are some of our obstacles! I put together a few homemade signs, duct taped a dowel on the back and we were all set.
First game - Superman Jump AKA Leaping over the pool Noodles. This was a favorite among the 3 and 4 year old crew.

Next - the Green Lantern tumble. Hello, Lucy's nap mat from 4K! This was a perfect way to get the kiddos to do a quick somersault. (I have no idea if Green Lantern really tumbles - just trying to be creative!)

The Avengers Balance Beam did require a purchase ... I bought a little roll of Avengers Duct Tape from the Dollar Store and taped it to the floor of the picnic shelter in a straight line. The kids really liked this activity as well!

We grabbed our hula hoop for the Wonder Woman Hula obstacle.

I dug the tunnel out of our toy bin for the Batman Bat Cave tunnel!

The Fast as Flash activity was zipping around these cones. We had these in our garage - the kids like weaving through them on their bikes.

The Captain America frisbee throw involved me taping some red, white, & blue construction paper to a frisbee! Here is Roman modeling the game.

The next Obstacle was a bean bag throw. I created a Spider-Man face to stick on the game.

The last obstacle (and the clear favorite) was a water activity. The kiddos got squirt guns as part of their party favors and I filled them up before the party so that they could put out the fire and save the city. They loved it!

These games were so much fun for the kids and they just took a little bit of posterboard, dowels, markers, construction paper, and creativity to pull together!
Here are the Party favor bags - filled with bubbles, stickers, tattoos, and a squirt gun.

We couldn't have a birthday without a piñata! This year Roman selected Batman for the big event!

Lucy got in the spirit of the party and wore her Captain America tank top! She is standing in front of another game that I put together -- pin the star on the Captain America shield. :)

One last party activity to share! I got a little pack of Superhero masks that the kiddos could color if they wanted to make their way around the obstacle course in style. :)
It was a fun party! I loved the theme! :) I will do a post on the celebration very soon.
