Well folks, this is a pretty accurate scene from the month of November at the Storm household - blurry pictures found on mom's phone of the children jumping on furniture in the basement. Ai yi yi. COVID cases were on the increase in November so we spent lots of time hanging out as a family. Mom + Dad were trying to work and were glued to election news plus we had lots of school outages and daycare shut downs due to the virus so there you have it.
Let the craziness commence!
Oh and Howdy from this cutest lil cowboy!
This is pretty much how Dan and I spent the early weeks of November awaiting election results! LOL!
This definitely felt true as well.
2020!! What a year!!
Good thing that we had a birthday to help distract us from the ballot counting. ;)
Lucy turned 9! Here she is sporting a hat that she got from her friend, Ember.
Lucy spent part of her birthday weekend out bird hunting with her Daddy. Love this girl who loves being outdoors.
While the bigs were out hunting with Ranger and Daniel, Leo and I tried to do some Play Doh. Unfortunately, he still attempted to eat the stuff (more than once) so we put it away for another time.
We celebrated Lucy's big day by cooking one of her favorite foods - lasagna. (Although she told me that Auntie Amelia's version was superior to mine!!)
She opened a few of her presents including an LOL Surprise doll. She loves playing with these, especially with her cousins and her neighbor friends.
She also got a fanny pack. Love that these are back in style again although I think that the kids these days call them belt bags. Haha!
Other than celebrating our 9 year old, we also celebrated and honored Veterans in our family. Roman submitted information on his Uncle Brian and his Great Grandpa Storm which was compiled into a video that they showed at his school. It was actually a very nice project - whoever put together the montage of pictures and information did a great job. Roman was very proud.
About the middle of November we finally got around to taking down our homemade Halloween decorations.
Chef Roman assisted with bran muffins, one of his favorite breakfast foods.
Lucy made cookies one of the days and I saved the note that she wrote for a photo because it is classic 2020. The note was written for her Dad who has been working from home of out the living room for several months now. Lucy writes, 'Are you talking to someone important I need to use a mixer'. Apparently the phone conference ended or the person was not, in fact, important because the cookies were made. Hah! I definitely lucked out in terms of office space since I started working from home right before COVID and claimed the basement bedroom for my office. Poor Dan has spent time in the basement storage area and then moved upstairs to where our living room/entry way/hallway to the bedrooms intersect. It is not always quiet but he is doing his best to manage! Insert crazy eyed emoji here.
Lucy got a highly anticipated hover board for her birthday.
She was quickly cruising up and down our street with this new toy!
We tried to soak up as much time at the park before late fall and winter set in.
Lucy loves doing C-Jumps
Leo just stands back and keeps an eye on his wild older siblings.
Lucy and Roman love doing optical illusions with photos these days. Their school issued i-pads are being put to good use and are full of pictures like this one:
Lucy got Clue for her birthday and suddenly these 2 are obsessed!
Other than that, we have been enjoying our time reading with the grammys.
Lucy has been learning about the different bodies of government in social studies. Makes her political science major of a mama proud. :) Also I learned a thing or two myself! I am embarrassed to say that I knew nothing about the Eau Claire City Manager or City Council until she brought home this project.
She has also been working on African masks in art.
We are still at home pretty much all of the time due to COVID so there have been lots of snuggles and movie watching on this couch.
Love this cuddly crew!
We kept on laughing at 2020 memes. ;)
Leo discovered this magnetic shape book that the older kids used to play with and he did great job. He is really getting into simple puzzles and shape sorters.
Lucy got some 'butter slime' from a friend as a birthday gift. Insert sigh here. This mama is not a fan of slime. Lucy adores it and played with it all month long as she shaped it into Thanksgiving foods like this pie.
And, even though I don't take blog worthy food photos - we did have some delicious venison based meals this November. Check out this Venison Stroganoff. So good!
