Each January the Northwoods Children's Museum hosts a tea party. This year's theme was Disney Princesses. Lucy was thrilled to attend. She was extra excited to wear her Elsa dress. :)
We arrived at the museum ahead of our tea time to do crafts. Lucy zipped in and ran to the new birds exhibit. Here she is holding one of the chickens. :)
After greeting the birds we went to the crafting area. Lucy was signed up to make a scepter and a princess hat. Here she is concentrating on her creation and adding some glitter.
Here is the finished product!
Now to the princess crown!
She decorated this beauty with glitter, ribbons, and stickers.
Posing before heading in to our tea!
This girl was super excited to drink out of a legit tea cup.
Mama and Lucy at the big event. There were several people (I am thinking that they were local high school drama students) dressed up as princesses and princes walking around and Lucy was in heaven! :)
There were many special treats and little sandwiches to eat!
This one was one of Lucy's favorites - Frozen 'ice blocks' which were actually little brownies covered in blue and white powdered sugar.
This was her other favorite - a flaming stick (marshmallow with some red sugar on top), it was supposed be like Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast.
After our party was over we headed over to the new space exhibit. Our little princess quickly put on her NASA helmet and worked on picking up "space rocks" and "Martian dust" using her special gloves.
It was such a fun and special afternoon. We are very grateful to have such a good children's museum in our backyard. :)
Just a quick post of the mid-January happenings at the Storm household. One of things that we debuted at the start of 2016 was this magnetic responsibility chart for Lucy. I found it at a consignment shop about a year ago and we finally hung it on the wall! The goal is to have a variety of chores and good behaviors for Lucy to track each week. We haven't been the best about keeping up this little chart! We'll keep on trying! :)
Lucy still absolutely loves playing tea party! Here she is - all dressed up with her table all set up in the back ground. So sweet.
Romy loves to dress up. Here he is as a fire fighter -- not super happy about smiling for his mama! Haha!
Here are the kiddos eating their breakfast and playing with their animal stickers and habitats. Roman has the farm and Lucy is playing with the safari scene.
We met up with the MacFarland kids at the library for some play time.
2016, the Storm family is ready for you!! We are excited to start a new year - hopefully one that is filled with health and happiness! :) We rang in the new year at Grandpa Ken and Grandma Nola's house and then headed home to Rhinelander in early January.
We unpacked our things - Lucy quickly pulled out her new Barbie - she received this gem from the hospital staff at Sanford. It was intended to be a collector doll, it looked like the proceeds went to breast cancer research - but Lucy promptly threw the doll stand in the garbage and started playing with her fun and beautiful doll. :)
Thank you to Amelia and Brian for sweet beards book - the kids love reading this one and pretending like they have beards. Hee hee!
We had already scheduled a follow up appointment with Dr. Wood for the first week of January so when we arrived at the clinic we got to fill her in on all of our HSP tales from the holidays. :(
Great news - Lucy's blood pressure was normal during this visit and her urine test was perfect, we are taking it one day/week/month at a time - each time that Lucy's labs come back without any signs of kidney issues, we are at less and less at risk of running into long term kidney problems for her! Yay! We have monthly doctor check ups on the calendar through April. So far so good - we celebrated Lucy's health with a donut bite. :)
In other big news - this guy has been regularly pooping on the potty! Roman has been doing a great job of telling us when he needs to go #2. We set him down and he will sing and read until the job is done. Woohoo! He is still not reliable with telling us when he needs to pee but if I don't need to change poopy diapers on this kid any more, I will take it!! :) Great job, Romy!
Yep - Healthy and growing kids .... I think that 2016 is going to be a great year!!
During our first first weekend of 2016 in Rhinelander, we headed to the golf course for some sledding action. They have a great hill and it is always surprisingly under utilized by families. We are always amazed at the lack of people sledding down this great hill - best kept secret in Rhinelander.
Lucy had her thermos of hot chocolate ready to go!
Roman couldn't wait to hit the hill!
Here are some wintry books that we have been reading before heading to the sledding hill.
Both kids were eager to go down the hill in our big Otter sled.
Ready to go!
Winter Adventures with Daddy!
The whole family in a selfie.
Finally, a video of our adventures!
We have a lot of goals for 2016 - we want to go camping more often, spend more time exercising outdoors, and Dan and I are planning to go on a vacation without Lucy and Roman (sorry kids!) We are looking forward to a wonderful year!
