Here is the latest and greatest from late August at the Storm household. We got fresh new haircuts for school. Lucy asked her stylist for braids to complete her new 7th grade look.
We admired all of the Halloween decor at Costco. Leo adores this werewolf!
We did some corn harvesting at Grandpa and Grandma's land.
The children were happy to help husk.
We have the cutest lil helpers and corn eaters.
You guys, August is the best time of year for food! We had so many tomatoes this season - I whipped up some bruschetta.
I made some caprese salad too - delish!
We grilled some elk - Dan made the best marinade.
These two goofballs love playing at the shelter.
At home our Taylor Swift loving girl worked on lots of friendship bracelets and beadwork.
Lucy officially got her 7th grade schedule. She was excited to stop by school to compare notes with her friends and to get her picture taken.
Leo visited Hobby Lobby and begged to sit on their hay bales and be part of their Fall display. Haha!
Roman went to the new Twisters movie with his Dad and a friend so the rest of us opted to bust out the outdoor movie set up. We watched The Parent Trap on this August night. It was so much fun!
Leo said goodbye to a dear friend at day care - his buddy Nick is going to Kinder at another school. Pokemon-loving Nick gave Leo a stuffy as a parting gift - here he is with his precious Blastoise. {All of my very limited Pokemon knowledge was passed on to me by my youngest son - Hah! ;)}
We attended our final Summer music concert at River Prairie.
On this night they had a school bus - Leo was eager to hop on and even more happy to drive! Cutest lil bus driver in all the land.
We also stopped by the Altoona fire truck.
I loved this concert series and we had the best weather to end the summer.
After a dozen years of full time day care, we officially closed a chapter in our family's life as Leo is headed off to Kinder. Beyond thankful for the love and care provided by Rachel's Place! Leo really thrived in this space and we are so grateful.
Our family has sent our 3 kiddos to 5 day care centers over the years, all across Wisconsin from private companies to YMCAs to church basements. Two of these locations did not survive COVID and have since shut down. :( We were on waiting lists for more than 1 YEAR for open spots at two of these day care sites. For many years our family paid more for day care than our mortgage. We have to do better in this country! Quality daycare is critical to working families like ours.
Want to feel old? We had Leo's Kindergarten orientation and found out that he will graduate in 2037. His mama is gonna be an old lady by graduation day! ;)
The whole fam was at school to get Leo situated.
He was thrilled to land in the same Kinder class {Mrs. Bundgaard!} as his bestie Henry.
I am so glad to have both of my boys at one school for this academic year. These guys are going to be book ends at Sam Davey - Roman at the top as a 5th grader this fall and Leo just starting out in Kinder. It makes my heart happy.
After our Kindergarten orientation we headed over to Northstar. Lucy found her new locker and started decorating right away.
We found Lucy's classrooms and had an ice cream treat in the cafeteria space.
Goodbye summer, we are ready for Fall!
