Star Child

Lucy's 4K class has a star child each week - this chosen kiddo gets to complete a poster about themselves, bring their favorite snack to class, and bring a favorite book or toy to share.

Lucy was so pumped to be star child in mid-February. She colored/completed her All About Me poster all on her own. The only thing that I did was cut out photos for her.

Here is her finished product - Lucy Storm is 5 years old, she lives in Rhinelander, she has 3 people in her family and a dog Named Ranger. She chose a baby picture and a recent ballet picture to glue on the poster. Her friends are Caroline, Kelsie, Khloe, Miriam, Jacob, and Peter. After a lot of thought, she noted that she wanted to be a 'Rockstar' when she grew up. Hahahaha! Close runners up were a dentist and 'The Queen of Rhinelander'. :) Her favorite color is pink, her fave book is Duck Soup - she brought a copy of this to school for reading time. For foods Lucy listed Cake, Chicken, Cornbread and Pizza. She chose to bring pretzels to share with her friends on this day.

We love our star child!

A Batman Saturday

We told the children that we would take them to the Batman Lego movie on Saturday afternoon. They were so pumped. We started out the day in music class - of course Romy was sporting his Batman shirt. Here are the kiddos playing the resonator bars in Ms Joanne's class.

Later that afternoon, Roman quickly pulled on his Batman sweatshirt! He had refused to nap all afternoon and was messing around in his room instead (note - this is a very typical Saturday routine for us! We can not get Romy to nap on the weekends and he is a total bear by dinner time without some quiet time earlier in the day! Ugh!) We went to the movie anyway - show time was at 430. Roman totally fell asleep about 15 minutes in! What a kid! I didn't really mind because it has been a long time since my son slept in my arms for a couple of hours! Thanks for the snuggle time, Romeo!

What we are Playing this February

Lucy and Romy love playing games! Here are some of their favorite things this February...

First up - Hi Ho Cherry-O. This simple counting game is a hit with both kids, although Lucy does cheat a bit and really tries to manipulate that little spinner.

Lucy has been making puppets at day care these days. Her latest and greatest feature is putting eyelashes on the ladies that she draws. I love it!

Here are some pics from one of our recent Yahtzee tournaments. Lucy love, love, loves to roll dice. ;)

Next up - Roman's favorite game - Mouse Trap. He loves running those little weighted marbles through the obstacle course. He is actually pretty good at setting up the board with me.

Here is Roman working on one of his Highlights magazine games. He enjoys finding and circling all of the silly things that are happening in a picture.

Fun stuff!

Valentine's Day Celebrations

Lots of love from Storm household on Valentine's Day! Here are our little sweethearts wearing their holiday shirts.

The kids put together Valentine's for their classmates. Lucy spent lots of time drawing pictures and writing love notes to all of the girls in her class and then ran out of steam and threw a fit when I asked her to write the boys' names. So mama was stuck finishing everything up!

Here are the Valentine's that Romy picked out during our Target run.

Lucy filled out this worksheet on the things she loves. FYI - Miss Kimmy is her day care teacher. :)

When the kids returned home from daycare on Valentine's Day - they had all kinds of treats.

So much fun!

On Valentine's evening we had a special meal and these two helped me in the kitchen.

We made cookies for the sock hop party in Ms Koth's 4K classroom. Lucy was so pumped to roll these guys in pink sugar.

Here is Lucy wearing her awesome Valentine's socks, all ready for sock hop! I guess Ranger wanted to go with too. Haha!

XOXO from the Storm family!

Disney on Ice 2017

We continued with our family tradition of heading to Green Bay for Disney on Ice in mid-February. Our kids always have the best time. :)

Whenever we go to Green Bay, I snap a picture of Lambeau Field to text over to my 10 year old Vikings loving nephew. Bhahahaha! #AuntieHumor

First things first - the kids hit the pool with Dad while Mom went to get carryout for dinner.

After a quick shower and supper, Lucy got ready for the big event! She decided to wear her Belle costume on this evening.

Both kids were captivated by the performance!

We had to snap a quick selfie!

We got Lucy and Romy a snowcone to share. Wowza - the merchandise and treats at Disney on Ice are so expensive!! Nothing better than a $12 snow cone in a commemorative cup. Yikes! We got our tickets on sale during a Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal - Anyway, that lil snow cone cost more than the a kids ticket to the show.

After the show, Dan and I had our usual Valentine's Day meal - carryout from Brett Favre's Steak House. Delicious! The steamed crawdad on top never fails to impress the kids. :)

The kids ate popcorn together and watched a movie while we ate our dinner.

On Sunday morning we had breakfast at the hotel and hit the road.

But not without a Target run first!! As you can see, by the time we were finished, the kids were completely DONE. :) Between the late evening, swimming, excitement from Disney on Ice - these two were a hot mess! They napped the whole way home.

As always, we made lots of great memories in Green Bay!

Lucy's 'P' Picnic

Lucy's 4K class celebrated with a 'P' Picnic in February! They ate all kinds of 'P' foods like popcorn, pudding, pretzels, peas, pineapple, etc. I was able to volunteer in the classroom on that day. The kids had such a fun time!

The other parents and I set up the table with food and decorated with the letter P.

Here is the crew having their snack. Yum!

The children were also learning about polar animals that week so they were encouraged to wear black and white or clothes with penguins or polar bears on them. Lucy wore her penguin shirt on this day. She was so excited to have mama in her classroom for the afternoon. :)

Here is Lucy's 4K class in front of their little Penguin rookery. Love it!

Super Bowl Sunday

We celebrated Super Bowl Sunday with Jeff and Jillian and their crew this year. Since the Packers were not playing, we didn't really care too much about the game - although it did end up being exciting at the end! There was a big pack of kids present for the party so Lucy and Roman had an awesome time. To top things off - Jeff and Jillian have horses so all of the kids visited the horse barn. Lucy declared it the best Super Bowl ever! ;)

Here are Jacob, Lucy, Singer, Evelyn and Miriam ready to see some horses.

Evelyn, Cecil, Roman, and Singer sat on the haybales and listened to the rules of the barn.

Then, in came the horses!

When the horses were inside, the kids were able to sit on their backs for a moment. So.much.fun!

In addition to sitting on the horses, the kids had the opportunity to pet the animals.

Lucy wishes she could be a farm girl!

Romy loved petting this guy!

Sweet Izzy loved showing everyone the ropes around the barn.

What a fun evening with friends!

Saturday Afternoon at the Pool

One Saturday in February we didn't have music class - there was a scheduling conflict or something at St. Augustine's so we had a free day with no obligations on our calendar. What better way to spend a winter afternoon than the pool? We headed out with big plans to hit the Bear Pool at Lac Du Flambeau but turns out that they don't have open swim on Saturday. Ugh! What the heck? Needless to say, I had a couple of very disappointed kids. Thank goodness that the Waters of Minocqua was open. Phew!

There was no bear in the pool but they did have a fun turtle!

And a little shower/waterfall feature to walk through.

The kids had a great afternoon! This was in the middle of the furnace woes that I mentioned in my previous blogpost so it was nice to be at a warm and toasty poolside location. :)

Sliding next to an otter! We will definitely be back for another visit.
