A Week in the Life - April 2019

Time for another segment of a week in the life of the Storm family! :)

I like to do this type of a post every ~6 months or so … I hope that you enjoy this little glimpse into our everyday lives.

The week that I am featuring this time just happened to be Holy Week. Roman was excited to get a Palm Branch at Sunday school.

You can bet that the kids were bopping each other on the heads and poking one another with these palms all day! Insert eye roll here. Hah!

After church we zipped over to Aldi to do our big weekly grocery run. My big kids are pretty great helpers these days!

When we got home, Lucy busted out her event planning skills! She had been thinking about a celebration for Leo's First 100 days and, even though we were a little bit past the 100 mark at 108 days, she was ready for a party. :) Lucy quickly put together a sign to honor Leo.

Who wouldn't want to celebrate this baby boy?

Lucy made her littlest bro a special banner for his hat -  it said, 'Leo is our Baby!'

This is one well loved little brother!

Lucy decided to host the event in her closet!

Our man of the hour did have some sad moments …

But overall he was a happy guy to have a pizza party in his honor! I can't believe that this sweet boy has been in our family for 100 days - sometimes it feels like he just arrived and other times it feels like he has been here forever!

I love these two 'L' kiddos of mine!

Lucy is such a little event planner - I found this list of items that she is planning to do at a hypothetical sleepover with one of her friends. :) We don't have anything on the calendar but it never hurts to have a list of ideas in your back pocket, right?

Leo loves kicking and rolling these days. He also enjoys ‘wrestling’ with the whale on his play mat.

We still had a fair amount of snow on the ground going into Easter week thanks to a mid April snow storm. Come soon spring!! Lucy and Roman love playing in the snow, Mama on the other hand is getting sick of the white stuff. It has been quite the winter up here!

All of the kids usually takes baths on Sunday nights in preparation for the week ahead. Here is my littlest guys - all smiles in the water!

After the big kids go to sleep, I pack their school bags for the next day. I do a quick check to make sure that their homework is there and that they have what they need for any extracurriculars coming up. Lucy has dance on Monday nights so I threw her leotard, tights, and ballet shoes in her bag.

After everyone else is ready for the week Dan and I usually watch some television while I feed the baby one last time before bed. Good night little Leo!

We are up bright and early in the mornings. I usually wake up between 530 and 545 to nurse the baby before jumping into the daily routine of making coffee, putting lunches together, letting the dog out, gathering clean bottles and occasionally showering! Hahahaha!

Leo usually drinks 20 ounces of breastmilk per day at daycare so I prep 4 five oz bottles each day. He is a hungry guy!

Going away for a long weekend? Nope - this is just a typical day for us - breast pump, diaper bag, bottles for Leo, work computer, purse, lunch bag, backpack for Lucy, and shoes/extra winter hat for Roman. Whew!

Can’t forget this sweet little nugget in his car seat (or my cup of coffee!!). I usually drop off at daycare (Leo + Roman on certain days of the week) and Dan typically drops off at the elementary school (Lucy + Roman on certain days of the week).

After work and school I dropped off Lucy at ballet class and the boys and I headed to McDonalds to McTeacher night. :) On this night the teachers and staff from Lucy and Roman's elementary school serve up the food and the school gets some percentage of the proceeds. The kids were over the moon at the fact that they could enjoy McDonalds, Mama did not have to cook, the school got some extra funds = win/win!!

Here is a happy boy at McDonald's …
As a side note - the Milwaukee Bucks had an awesome season! I don't even really like basketball but I have started following the team this spring! Haha! Roman likes sporting his Bucks t-shirt too.

Lucy was busy at dance class so we got a Happy Meal to go and she ate at home later that evening. We had to give her the lowdown on all of the little friends who said hello and sent greetings from the restaurant.

Lucy has gymnastics on Tuesdays so we had to pack up her leotard on Monday evening.

On Tuesday morning the children had dental appointments to fill cavities. Lucy had 1 cavity and Roman had 4 … insert heavy sigh here. The Hoekman oral health genes finally caught up with our family.

Lucy played a few video games before her appointment.

Roman snuggled with Leo in the waiting room.

Everyone did a great job and picked out a treat from the treasure box.

Tuesday evening was beautiful - the sun was shining and the snow was finally starting to melt. Ranger enjoyed looking out the window and watching the kiddos play.

On these types of nights, I get hopeful that I can someday quit shoving snowpants, hats, and mittens into school back packs.

At our rental house, we often get a huge puddle in front of our driveway after a big snow melt. Roman absolutely loves splashing in the water with his rainboots!

On this day we even busted out the basketball hoop! Welcome spring! We are so glad you are here.

On Tuesday nights we scramble to locate all of the kids' library books because both Lucy and Roman visit their school library on Wednesday. The first grade classrooms have 'book buddies' with the 4K'ers and it just so happens that Lucy's class pairs up with Roman's room. This means that my kids often team up to read together at school and it makes my mama heart so happy.

They read together at home too! :)

On Thursday I took the day off of work to attend one of my favorite events - the summer consignment sale in Wausau! I got so much good stuff for the kids. I didn't mean for this picture to be 'artistic' or anything but the coloring is kind of off. At any rate, it shows the racks and racks of clothes to dig through! Love it!

So much fun stuff for little Leo! I got him some great 9 month clothes for the summer.

While I was thrifting in Wausau my friend sent me the Packers schedule for the season. Go Pack Go! The snow is not even off the ground yet and we are already thinking about fall around here! Haha!

When I returned to Rhinelander and picked up Leo from daycare, the staff told me that he had some persistent white spots in his mouth. I dropped Roman off at the YMCA for swim lessons and took my two L's to the clinic so that Leo could be seen by a provider.

Leo was a happy guy at the doctor's office but we did end up deciding to treat him for thrush. The person that we saw wasn't 100% sure that he had it - Leo wasn't fussy and eating okay but did have the persistent spots - but our provider said that the treatment was so benign that it was better to just move forward with the anti-fungal meds. Thumbs down to 4 doses of meds x 10 days but so glad that we have a healthy guy!

We got home from the clinic and unpacked Roman's bag to find this sweet Happy Easter decoration. I just love 4K art. :)

The biggest news from Thursday evening was that Roman lost his second tooth!
Here is our sweet toothless wonder!

Good news -- the tooth fairy visited that night and gave Romy one dollar.

And the fairy teamed up with Easter bunny to bring both of the big kids new tooth brushes! How fun! ;)

Roman had his dollar in hand for approximately one minute before he was begging to go to the thrift store. I told him that we could go after school. What can I say - this kid loves to find treasures at Goodwill. He learns from the best! Haha! On this day he selected a little baggie of toys which included both a Mario and a Luigi guy. Roman was pumped!

We returned home to find that Lucy had received her latest installment of her Little Passports subscription. This month’s feature country was Egypt and it came with little pyramids for the children to chip away at and find treasures. :) If you are thinking about getting a child a Little Passports subscription - definitely do it! Lucy absolutely loves this stuff and she is learning so much about the world. Thanks to Grandpa Ken and Grandma Nola for this gift!

Both kids thought that it was the coolest activity!

On Saturday morning we colored Easter eggs!

Here is our starting point …

And one of the finished products! Lucy and Roman loved doing this activity.

After our eggs were dyed, we headed to our Saturday music class. Leo enjoys listening and watching the big kids.

Lucy showed us her triangle skills.

Then Mr. Roman played for us!

After class we headed to Pioneer Park for our first picnic of the season. It was a beautiful day! We were so excited to run into our friends Kenna and Trent there.

The kids played and played and we headed to Dairy Queen for a quick treat. As you can see, we cannot wait for summer around here!

We did our typical Saturday night activities, dinner, baths, movie time, etc. but after we set out our Sunday clothes, Dan did his annual fatherly duty of filling Easter eggs.

As you can see it was another full week...I am so grateful for this sweet family of mine! I wouldn't change these crazy weeks for anything! :)
