Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

We made our annual trek to the pumpkin patch in October. One of our favorite Saturdays on the year!

We got a very warm day to visit the patch this fall - as you can see both boys are dressed for summer!

The big kids hopped on a giant pumpkin jumping pad while Leo played in a little bounce house right next door. Leo would have definitely been bounced to the moon if he were on this pad! Haha!

We found a ginormous pumpkin!

We all measured ourselves.

Just look at these tall guys! ;)

Love these three little pumpkins!

We walked on trails, jumped on haybales, and zipped down slides.

After lunch we picked out our pumpkins for the season.

Just a quick selfie with my favorite girl!

No better way to kick off our Halloween season!

Visit to the Malcolms + the Milwaukee Zoo

Our friends the Malcolm family recently moved back to Wisconsin (YAY!) so we were eager to make the trip to Milwaukee to see their crew. We made plans to see them in early October so that the boys could do some duck hunting and the kiddos could visit the zoo.

It always makes me so happy to see Luna thriving. She is definitely an old lady Munsterlander at this point but still healthy and strong. :) Leo never had the chance to meet our dear Chief but here he is with his littermate, Luna.

All of the kids were so excited to play together.

Lucy and Clara became fast friends. :)

While the guys went after the ducks ...

We played outdoors and hung out with our friends. How cute are Leo and Alexander? Leo kept saying, 'I had a sleepover at Alexander's house!'

When the boys returned, we headed to the Milwaukee zoo.

Here is a picture from the last time we visited the Milwaukee Zoo - 9 Autumns ago! Sweet baby Lucy was not quite one.

Look at her now! Such a big kid!

This time around we had 2 little guys in a wagon. :)

Our first stop was the penguin exhibit.

The boys gave it a thumbs up.

Leo liked the rhinos.

We had the best afternoon, it felt so good to soak up the October sun.

One of the great things about the Milwaukee Zoo is that there are elephants! So fun to see these beauties.

By far - the fan favorite at the zoo was the hippo exhibit.

I have never seen a hippo so up close! It was magical.

He yawned, pooped, and swam for us ...

The kids were captivated. So were the adults! LOL.

Of course we had to take some dramatic photos outside of the hippo habitat.

Watch out! ;)

Here's the entire crew.

When we got back to the ranch we prepared the birds.

Roman can't wait to go out hunting with this crew someday. :)

We had a rip roaring fire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows.

This is pretty much how the evening ended - Two tired hunters and a pack of children watching a Halloween movie.

Thanks for the fun weekend, Malcolm family!

Feels like Fall

As soon as the air starts feeling crisp, we bust out the Halloween jammies. Just look at my cuties in their spooky pjs!

We made plans to meet up with the Cihacek crew for some apple picking. Our first order of business was eating apple cider donuts. Yum!

We waited for the cousins to arrive and found out that there was actually no apple picking allowed at the orchard right now! Insert palm to face emoji here. There were some very late frosts this spring and, as a result, many of the delicate apple flowers/buds froze back in May. :( Thus the apple harvest was much smaller this season and they closed down the pick your own option.

We made the best of our day at the no-pick orchard. Good news, there were still tractor rides!

Who doesn't love a chunky tractor tire?

There were still piggyback rides by the apple trees.

Of course we wore our Halloween gear to celebrate the season! ;)

The big kids both sported shirts with flippy sequins. They wanted 2 pictures to show off this feature - see how Lucy's ghost became a skeleton and Roman's Ghostbuster strikethrough turned green?

We ran, played and had a picnic.

It is always awesome to see the cousins!

Even though we didn't come home with bushels of apples, we still had a great time!
