End of April Happenings

Here are some scenes of life lately at the Storm household ... these pictures are from the end of April.
The kids and I attended Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA. Lucy and Roman were pumped to see that the Hodag mascot was there!

In addition to the Hodag, Scoopie the ice cream mascot from Culver's was at the YMCA. That's right folks, the first thing that we did at Healthy Kids Day was pick up a big scoop of ice cream! Hahaha!

The children crafted some pin wheels and then we took our ice cream outside so that we could see the medical helicopter land.

It turns out that a helicopter landing kicks up a lot of dust so the children spent most of the time protecting their ice cream from dirt rather than watching the big event.

Lucy and Roman loved getting an up close view of the medical helicopter. Tragically the helicopter ended up crashing near Hazelhurst less than a week after this picture was taken and 3 crew members were killed. We are so grateful for the first responders in our community and were very sad to hear about the accident.

In addition to the helicopter, we saw a fire truck with the ladder fully extended. So cool!

Roman jumped in the cab of the firetruck with his buddy Fielder.

Lucy liked the firetruck too!

We saw lots of friends at the event including Evelyn.

The weather is finally turning spring like around here so we have been spending a lot of time on our bikes.

There is a limited window of time between warm weather and the arrival of bugs so we need to take advantage of the opportunity to bike ride without any mosquitos. :)

I finally felt confident enough around the end of April to switch my winter clothes out and put my spring/summer wardrobe in the closet.  YAY!

We celebrated Earth Day with a fun earth/peace sign shirt and a pastel dress.

We sent cards/love and celebrated Great Grandma's 95th birthday from afar at the end of April.

Here are Grandpa Great and Grandman Great at the big event. Grandpa is 99 and Grandma is 95 now! They are amazing!

Lucy loves dressing up her dolls and wearing matching jammies. She wanted me to send this picture to the editors of American Girl Doll magazine.  :)

The kids had a day off of school at the end of April for a Teacher Inservice Event. We had the best day!! We rode bikes in the morning.

We went to Pioneer Park for the first time this season. As you can see, it was still a little snowy and sloppy but we still had a good time.

We had a picnic at the park!

After our time at the park we headed to the library for popcorn and a movie. They were showing Ferdinand on this day.

Lucy worked on a craft before the show.

Roman and I read about being a Stone Age Hunter.

The kids were excited to find big bags of popcorn on their seats.

We watched the movie with a pack of elementary school aged kiddos in a library conference room. So fun!

A couple of months ago we won a gift basket as part of a raffle at the school book fair. Part of our prize was a bunch of gift certificates for free Dilly Bars at the local Dairy Queen. The children have been overjoyed! We have made a couple of stops at the DQ in recent weeks. :)

Who doesn't love a Dilly Bar?

Roman wanted me to take a couple of pictures of him prentending to have a brain freeze. Haha!

Finally, a rare photo of Lucy and Roman taking a nap together!

Bike riding, time at the park, picnics, Dilly Bars .... we are ready for summer!!
