April - Life Lately

Well folks, it is already mid-April! Here is what life lately has looked like at the Storm residence this month.

I made a quick trip down to Wausau this month to drop off a bunch of totes of stuff for the kids consignment sale! As you know - this is one of my favorite events of the year ... so many treasures! :)

Roman was sick with a fever for a couple of days this month. This little guy never rests so when he is taking multiple naps a day - you know something is not right! Lucy made him a very sweet Get Well Card on this night.

Lucy's latest love is making her own yogurt parfaits and putting them in the freezer for a frozen yogurt dessert. :)

I made a quick trip back to the consignment sale and got tons of great deals on the kids' summer wardrobe.

So I do have one funny/embarrassing story to share from April. As most of you know, I am seriously blind without my glasses or contacts. I went to the bathroom during the night recently without my glasses and started freaking out when I thought that I saw a dead mouse on the floor. I got Dan and he just burst out laughing. Turns out that I saw was this dang Lion King Hyena toy ... not a dead mouse! Hahaha!

Sigh - we found out that Roman literally dropped hundreds of Lucy's ponytail holders down the bathroom vent. His little hand was the only one tiny enough to fit down the hole to scoop them out.

We have been visiting the library a lot recently. Roman's latest obsession is prehistoric mammals. He can not get enough of mammoths, mastadons, giant sloths, etc. He found the children's section dedicated to prehistoric beasts at the library and is in heaven!

Lucy worked on a craft during a visit - a lovely orange.

We love spending time at music class with our friends! Here are Lucy and Roman with their buddy Sarah.

Ugh - we have had so much snow this April!! We are ready for spring around here.  This is the view from our front door this April.

I don't do a lot of posting about the food we eat but Dan made the best Cuban sandwiches this month! Roast pork, ham, swiss, and pickles = the best!

I just love reading books with these two! Here is a sweet selfie from our story time.

We had another big dump of snow on April 16th which meant another snow day. Bring on the Perler Beads, right? Haha! We managed to make it out with Dan's truck and celebrated our day off with a donut.

Roman opted for a few munchkins from Dunkin Donuts.

These two love popcorn and movie days.

We played a fair amount of the I Spy game during the snow day.

School was cancelled but the dance studio still held classes on this evening. Here is our snowy ballerina. :)

And, finally, one sure sign of spring ... Lucy planted some seeds with her Girl Scout troop in honor of Earth Day.

 Happy April! :)

Roseville Weekend

The weekend after Easter we headed to Roseville for a family weekend. Brian and Amelia are doing some work on their house so we stayed in a nearby hotel. The kids were so excited to go swimming! Roman brought along his inflatable donut swim rings.

The children could not wait to hit the pool with their cousin James.

Racing down the halls!

Everyone was sleepy after a night of family time, pizza, and swimming! We watched a little Shrek before hitting the hay.

The next morning we split into groups for more swimming and thrifting and circled back for brunch. Here is one side our booth! We were also celebrating Grandpa Ken's birthday during this visit. He turned 66 this year ... Lucy made him a card that said "You are 66. I am 6. Twinsies!" So cute!

Lucy and Grammy Nola sat on the end.

Here is the other side of our brunch table. Yum!

After some delicious food we took this guy in for a haircut.

He got a sweet new hairdo and they styled it with colors and a faux hawk!

The kiddos headed to Auntie Amelia and Uncle Brian's house for the evening while Dan and I got ready to attend his second cousin Erich's wedding to Erin. Ken and Nola attended the ceremony too - it was a beautiful venue in downtown Minneapolis. I don't have a ton of pictures but it was lovely!
Look at these desserts! Love the cake topper too!

They also had a fantastic Green Bay Packers helmet cake. (Erich's family is from Wisconsin) The kids thought that this picture was amazing!

We don't get dressed up and get out very often so this was a treat!!

Meanwhile, the children had the best night ever with their uncles and auntie and cousin James.

I didn't get enough snuggles with my little nephew so I had to take advantage of my time on Sunday morning.

What a fun weekend! We love spending time with the Storm crew! The kids had a blast and slept for much of the way back to Rhinelander. :)

Snow Days - Outdoor Play and Perler Beads

We have had a l-o-n-g transition to spring this year. After a week of spring break, an Easter Monday at home, Lucy had a snow day on Tuesday. I love spending time with my kids but when we can't leave the house for days due to the snow and we are all up to our eyeballs in snow and perler beads, we tend to go a little stir crazy!! Haha!

We worked on many perler bead projects - Lucy has a Woodland Creature kit and we made lots of birds, fox, raccoon, and fawns during our time stuck inside. :)

The kids love playing in the snow - when the come inside they peel off all of their wet clothes in the mudroom.

Lucy took a nap in the hallway which was fine with me! Her brother on the other hand declined any form of resting on this day.

I am telling you - perler bead projects for days!

 Hello Mr. Fox!

We swapped out crafts and Roman worked on an elaborate pet store. He drew various cages and aquariums and used Melissa and Doug pet sticker to fill in the spots. So fun!

Lucy painted a ballerina! She love, love, loves ballet these days.

By the next day we were all ready for a day of work and school - Hallelujah!

Until next time, perler beads! :)

Easter Weekend

We stayed at home this Easter - I honestly can't remember the last time that we didn't travel for the holiday! We always love spending time with our family but we had a great, low key time with our little crew of 4 this year. The kids were excited to dye Easter eggs on Saturday morning.

Our Saturday morning music class was cancelled due to heavy snow - sigh - so we got our egg decorating supplies out instead!

We had lots of choices for colors!

Here is our finished product! Yay! :)

I bought some tulips for the holiday in an effort to make it more spring-like ... can you see that blizzard going on outside? Mother Nature was clearly not on board with me!

The kids played outside and returned home for hot cocoa and marshmallows.

My brother in law Brad found this hilarious meme and I think that it perfectly sums up our Easter weekend! Hahahaha!

We wrapped up our Saturday night with movie and a popcorn. The children went to bed with great anticipation for the Easter Bunny's arrival.

When I was growing up, my mom would put together scavenger hunts / trails of bunny foot prints for us to find our Easter baskets. So fun! Now that Lucy is reading I put together a little scavenger hunt for the kiddos this year. They thought that it was awesome! Daniel and I loved watching them race from clue to clue.

Success! They found their Easter Baskets hiding in the bathtub! :)  Everyone got a new swim suit, flipflops or sunglasses, pajamas, and a small toy. Lucy and Roman also had an egg hunt in their bedrooms where they found some jelly beans and chocolate eggs.

We all zipped downstairs for breakfast.

Fruit salad without any melon any sight = the best!! ;)

We had lemon poppy seed muffins, eggs, and the adults drank some mimosas.

We got dressed up and headed to church.

I just love Roman's sweet little Easter hat - he was been wearing it for many Easter seasons now ...

Here is a throw back to 2015 - Awwwww!

Here is a mother-daughter picture! Love my little girl so much!

We returned from services and Daniel carved up the ham.

We got out the china - definitely don't use these pieces often enough! We have been married almost a decade and I still love these plates!

And here is our holiday table - what a delicious lunch! Wishing you lots of love this Easter!
