The Storm family had big plans for the Presidents Day weekend this year ... meeting this little sweetheart!
We started our long weekend with a trip to the big kids' school for conferences. We talked to Mrs. Geske and Mrs. McCracken and saw everyone's art work.
Everyone had a good report so they picked out treats at the Scholastic Book Fair as a reward.
Leo quickly selected the Spiderman T. rex poster ;)
We had a fun-filled Friday - the children's dental office rented out the movie theater in Chippewa Falls and showed a free movie in the morning. Actually a brilliant move by them ... kids get a free movie, parents buy treats, children consume candy and therefore guarantee future business for dentist. Haha! Do you see that free toothbrush in Lucy's hand? ;) We saw one of the Minions movies on this day - Leo was crabby and not interested in a photo.
We spent the day tidying and then we went out for pizza after Lucy's swim practice. You know that a pizza restaurant is high quality when the carpeting looks like this! Oh yeah!
We had a special show to see at the Pablo that night - School of Rock! Roman was so pumped! Leo and I left at Intermission but it was such a fun performance! :)
Friday evening we got pictures like this - Uncle Brad and Grandpa with precious little Teddy!
Leo was kind of gnarly critter during the night on Friday; he woke up crying/complaining of ear pain and his daycare was clearly COVID infested so we gave him a COVID test before leaving out of an abundance of caution. Didn't want any extra germs around our tiny lil nephew! The test was negative (phew!) so we hit the road. Leo fell asleep in his car seat right away.
He ended up waking up SCREAMING just outside of Menomonie so we decided to turn around and head to the urgent care. Ugh. The Mayo Urgent Care is just a wing of the emergency department in Menomonie so Leo and I zipped in for a hospital visit while the big kids and their Dad hung out in the car. I was hoping that things would move quickly, meanwhile Roman was being super dramatic and lamenting that, 'Teddy will be all grown up!' before we could meet him. Insert eye roll here.
Turns out that Leo had a nasty ear infection. :(
He was such a good little boy in the exam room. I took this picture to show Dan the pupura rash on Leo's face. He got it from excessive screaming and crying. Ai yi yi. Good news is that we were in and out of the urgent care relatively quickly and were able to pick up an antibiotic prescription at the Walgreens on our way out of town.
Whew - we made it to see baby Teddy before he was all grown up! ;)
We have some very proud cousins!
Leo has never been around babies and he was 100% in love! Of course Roman asked right away if we could have another baby at the Storm household. I told him that his Mom was too old for that! Haha!
Uncle Dan still remembered how to hold a little baby.
Everyone got some good snuggle time!
We have so many boys in this family - enough for a basketball team! ;)
And we can't forget our Queen Lucy who rules over all of these guys!
We stayed at a hotel on Saturday night ... it was home to the world's smallest pool! Haha!
We still had a lot of fun splashing around!
The next day we had more snuggle time and then got this pack of kids out of the house. I am sure that Teddy appreciated some peace and quiet!
We visited the arcade at the mall.
Who doesn't love air hockey? And who doesn't love Spencer's? Haha! Can you see the sign outside the arcade on that brick wall? Spencer's definitely brings back some mall nostolgia from the '90's!
Leo was working so hard to play video games - love that little tongue sticking out!
What a treat to play arcade with your auntie and uncle!
The Storm kids thoroughly enjoyed the mall visit although everyone was super envious of the kids and families in line for SeaQuest at Rosedale. It was a wonderful visit to the Cihacek residence (minus the ear infection!) We headed home to Wisconsin right after the mall - had to stop at the Stop and Smell the Roses display on the way out the door.
Back at the ranch we worked on some paining projects.
We wrapped up the long weekend with a trip to the car dealership for an oil change. I think it is so funny how much my kids weirdly enjoy going to the Kids Club at the dealership, I sometimes tease them that I will throw their next birthday party in that little space!
The dealership is right next to Roman's happy place - Tropic Waters Pet Store. I said that we could stop by after our appointment and he was delighted. There are so many reptiles - he is counting down the days to take his leopard gecko home!
Of course the children saw some brand new axolotls and now Lucy wants a pet too!
Roman could stay at this place all day long; he tells me that he will work here in high school. I wouldn't; be surprised if that wish came true. This kid loves his critters.
Other than that we went grocery shopping and hunkered down for an upcoming blizzard!
That's a wrap on the long holiday weekend. :)
