Grilling Out

After our Open House, we decided that our place was too clean - we needed to invite more toddlers over to play with Lucy. Haha! :) We had the Nye family with little Charlotte and our friends/neighbors Jason and Greta over for a Sunday evening of grilling.

We had a great time and Lucy and Charlotte had lots of fun playing together.

I had to post some pictures of these sweet pictures! How cute are these girls!?!

The girls played Ring around the Rosie - you can tell that Lucy is just a rookie at the game, she doesn't quite know when it is appropriate to fall down. :) Here is a link to the Video.

Melissa's Bridal Shower

A couple of weeks ago we celebrated the upcoming wedding of my good friend Melissa! It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and we met at Botham Vineyards just outside of Madison.

The scenery was beautiful.

The food was delicious!

We had a wonderful time with friends!

We did some crafting - Melissa painted a plate that will be fired later. We all added our thumb/fingerprints to create a bunch of grapes to remember our time at the winery!

Making thumbprints!

 The bride-to-be opening gifts!
Can't wait for your wedding, Melissa! I am so excited for you and Brian!!

Also - a quick shout out to our friend Ann for watching Lucy all afternoon. Lucy had an awesome day hanging out with all of the kids on Yuma Drive! :) Here is a link to a Video of her dancing in Mike and Ann's driveway.

Farmers Market

A couple of weeks ago Lucy and I went to the Saturday morning Madison Farmers Market downtown. It was a beautiful morning and it was graduation weekend at UW so it was a little bit crazy but we still had a great time. We ate pastries, bought flowers and asparagus, and did some people watching. I was totally that mom with the big stroller - oh well! :)

Here is Lucy - all ready for the market on the Capitol Square!

We took some time to jump out of the stroller and smell the flowers.

Lucy by the tulips, she is listening to some pan flute music - the Titanic theme song!

Officially on the Market!

Hello! Sorry we have been missing in action these days. Our house is officially on the market and keeping things neat and tidy with a toddler around has made life a little crazy. We have had the house for sale about 2 weeks and I am already tired of it! We have had 1 open house and 12 showings so far. Hopefully some nice couple loves the place and I can stop frantically making the bed each morning! I told Dan that I am not sure if I am going to make it through the entire house selling/moving experience without being able to drink! Haha! :)

Here are some pictures of our house:

The caption on our realtor's website is Charming Cape Cod.
Our bathroom with the awesome subway tiles that we installed.

 The guest room,

The sweetest room in the house, Lucy's bedroom!

Our tiny but cute kitchen!

And our living room. Don't you just want to buy this place??
Besides keeping the house clean, the most challenging piece of having our place on the market is that we often have showings during Lucy's nap time or during dinner time. Here are a few snapshots of what we do while other people are taking a look at the house.

Playing at the Legos table at Barnes and Noble...

Going out for dinner! We ate at Texas Tubb's last week and Lucy fell in love with a lamp whose base was made from an old rocking horse. After eating her cheese quesadilla, Lucy begged and cried to go see the horsie and she gave it several kisses. :)

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Belated Mother's Day to all Mamas! :) We had a great Sunday at the Storm household. After a delicious brunch and time at Olbrich gardens, Lucy gave me the best Mother's Day gift of all - a 2.5 hour nap! :) I had an awesome nap during the afternoon as well.

Lucy and Mama at Daisy Cafe
Side note: If you live in Madison - these guys have the best Huevos Rancheros e.v.e.r. You should definitely eat breakfast there!

My little sweetheart!

After brunch we spent some time at Olbrich gardens. It was a very chilly day so we spent most of our time indoors at the conservatory. It was nice and balmy inside. :) Here are Lucy and her Dad looking at birds.

There was a tactile table where Lucy was able to touch some branches, some fuzzy flowers, sticks, leaves, etc.

The Conservatory has a lot of koi that Lucy loves to watch; here she is waving to the fish.

Lucy is 18 months old

Our sweet little Lucy is now 18 months old! She is full of energy and lots of fun. Her favorite things these days include: Playing in the dirt or sandboxes, going down slides at the playground, picking flowers (dandelions), reading books, buckling her baby into her carrier, dancing and singing songs, jumping, making funny faces, and putting diapers on all of her stuffed animals and dolls. Here is a link to a video of her making animal noises: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9yuYKZt4uc&feature=youtu.be

Some not so fun interests that we have picked up in the past month or so: Yelling 'Mine!' repeatedly and a fascination with potty (sometimes if mama and dad are not watching Lucy closely - she will drop things in the bowl such as an entire roll of toilet paper or Mom's sweater - ugh!!).

Lucy's eating habits continue to improve! While she is still very hesitant to try new things, she is eating oranges, melons, apples, carrots, and sweet potatoes on a regular basis. Yay! We went out for dinner on Sunday night and Lucy ate her entire meal from the children's menu. I know that is not a big deal for the average 18 month old but it was so awesome to see Lucy do it! Just a couple of months ago I thought that I would be carting around baby food forever!

We had her 18 month well check visit recently and here are the stats:

Height: 33.5" tall - 91st percentile
Weight: 25.8 lbs - 85th percentile
Head Circumference: 19.2 in - 95th percentile

Our girl is growing right on track! She had her last baby immunization and we talked with the doctor about preparing Lucy for big changes coming up - the new baby and new house.

Tooth Brushing Time

Lots of exciting things going on at the Storm household these days - Lucy had her 18 month doctor's appointment, we celebrated Mother's Day, we are less than 100 days away from Baby Storm's arrival, and our house is officially on the market! I am still catching up on work from the past few weeks and trying to keep our house clean so the blog is neglected. Sorry about that! To hold you over until I can actually get some time to post - I am uploading a montage of photos from one of Lucy's favorite activities - brushing her teeth!

Lucy gets so excited to brush her teeth at night - side note: I use the word 'brush' loosely :) - she just squeals with delight when I get her little green brush out of the holder. She mostly sucks on her toothpaste and pretends to spit but, every once in a while, she does actually brush a tooth! Our little peanut was a very late teether - up until about ~6 weeks ago she still only had 6 teeth. Now she has approximately 12 little chompers!

Getting ready to brush

This kid refuses any help from mama or dad while brushing

It looks like the brush is coming into contact with some teeth in this picture :)

Sucking on toothpaste!

We love that you enjoy brushing your teeth, Lucy Bear!

Shore Leave

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! I have been crazy busy at work - I spent a week working nights at my customer's go-live and then had Sunday off before heading back for more day shifts supporting the Emergency Department team. Huge thank you to Daniel, Grandma Sharon, Grandpa Glen, and Grandma Nola for holding down the fort!

My day of leave was glorious. It was a beautiful Sunday! We ate waffles, went to church, took naps, bought plants and played in the dirt, and took a long walk to Michael's Frozen Custard for some treats. :)

Lucy loves to play in the dirt. She likes digging, throwing fistfuls of dirt into the air for a shower, picking flowers, and touching worms/other bugs. She wasn't a great helper with planting - she wanted to dig up the flowers instead of putting them in the ground. :) She was super cute and one dirty little girl by the time we went inside. I miss my family! Can't wait to be done with my shifts and home for good!
