We kicked off our week at church - Lucy and Roman attended Sunday school where they made these Christmas present boxes to collect offering in the weeks leading up to Christmas. They are starting to practice for their program at church! They can't wait to be in the children's choir. :)
After church we made a stop at the grocery store. Friends, our days of two kids in the police car/fire truck/taxi carts are numbered! These two barely fit - especially if they are wearing snow boots. Shopping is so much faster and easier if they can watch a quick video together so I am going to be sad when they don't fit anymore!
After lunch we played in the snow!
Time outside was followed by hot chocolate and watching Home Alone. Best combo ever! Pretty much a perfect Sunday afternoon, right? Hahahaha! I was reading that Home Alone was released 28 years ago this week! Wow - I remember the Thanksgiving of 1990 like it was yesterday!
Of course it wouldn't be a Sunday without a Packers game!
Monday was Veteran's Day! The kids had school and they were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue to honor the vets at an assembly on this day. I forgot to take a picture in the morning but Lucy was so excited to wear her favorite Uncle Sam hat barrette to class. Here is a picture of her sporting this same barrette on the 4th of July.
After dropping the kiddos at school, I headed to Antigo for my 34 week prenatal appointment. Here I am waiting anxiously in the exam room ... I was getting a quick ultrasound on this day because the baby still had not flipped and was not heads down at my previous appointments. My doctor said that most babies make the transition at ~28 to 30 weeks. Our little guy or gal just took their time and I found out that they were in the heads down position at this visit! YAY!! Just a few more weeks to go! We can't wait to meet you little one!
Look at that beautiful head! Making its way down and ready to enter the world in just over a month! :) The baby's heart rate was 139 bpm on this day ... what do you think? Boy or girl?
I had Veteran's Day off of work so I attempted to tackle the closet in the kids' area and move some of the baby stuff toward the front. Umm ... this is definitely a project that is going to look worse before it gets better! True story - it is still a mess. Dan keeps asking me when I am going to start nesting. Hahaha! Maybe one of these days ...
I picked up Lucy from After School and she quickly changed into her dance leotard. We headed over to the studio for ballet and tap class.
We picked up a poster for Lucy's holiday recital from the studio so that Dad could hang it up at work.
We also got to pick up her costume on this night! I am happy to report that she is wearing the same outfit for both tap and ballet so there are no costume to worry about! Insert praise hands emoji here!
Lucy got some glow in the dark nail polish from one of her friends for her birthday so both of the kids wanted to paint their nails on this night.
Everyone was tucked into bed so Dan and I watched some Ozark while I packed lunches...
And put Lucy's gymnastic leotard in her back pack. Lucy attends gymnastics as part of her After School program on Tuesday afternoons. Our girl loves to dance and tumble!
We all went to work and school on Tuesday - this is the view from my office window about 430 in the afternoon. It gets so dark so early! I hate that!
When I arrived home Dan was making dinner and the kids were playing. Roman couldn't wait to show me his newest lego creations - an alligator and a crab.
We had an impromptu dance party after supper - Roman found his cape and hat and pretended to be PT Barnum. Lucy tried on her dance costume and performed for us. We listened/danced to a few Greatest Showman songs and some Christmas music before bath.
The kids took bubble baths on this evening.
Pottery Barn Kids had a big sale on their Peanuts Thanksgiving plates/cups/silverware so I couldn't resist buying some! I am a sucker for Peanuts related stuff - especially for the holidays so this stuff was calling my name. Hah! My box of goodies arrived on this Tuesday and I was so excited to open it.
After bath, we did a quick search and final reading of the children's library books because both of their classes have Library day on Wednesdays. Lucy and Romy's classes are book buddies this year which makes my heart happy! I love to think about the kids reading to each other at school.
On Wednesday my co-workers threw me and baby Storm a surprise birthday shower!!! I was truly surprised and thought that I was being pulled into a meeting. I didn't even have my personal phone with me so I don't have a lot of pictures. I had to go back to the conference room and take a picture of the white board with everyone's guesses on gender/birthdate! We'll see who is closest! ;)
I had some delicious cupcakes and got some nice gifts! I am so thankful for such thoughtful
and supportive co-workers!
On Wednesday night, Daniel was out of town on a work trip so I picked up the kids from after school. We made a quick stop at Walmart on the way home to grab some milk and Lucy was able to pick out some accessories for the new fish tank that she received for her birthday. When Lucy opened her fish tank gift, Roman promptly burst into tears and sobbed about how unfair it was that his sister was getting a fish. It was crazy! I had no idea that he would react like that! Anyway, Lucy generously agreed that he could have a fish to co-exist in her tank until Roman gets his own aquarium someday. Both Lucy and Roman picked out one plant and one tank accessory on this night. Lucy chose a small neon colored castle and Roman chose an Easter Island head.
On Thursday Roman's day care had a Packers day and a Bring Your Favorite Stuffed Animal event. Roman was excited to put on his green and gold and he quickly found his puffin. When Dan went to Alaska a few years ago he brought back a puffin for the kids. Roman promptly named him Puffy Wuffy and he snuggles with him all the time. :) He wanted Puffy Wuffy to perch on his shoulder like a pirate before school.
This girl was ready for a Thursday at school. Lucy is rocking the side pony these days! Hahaha! I love that this style is back and better than ever. ;)
I picked up the kiddos after school and we zipped over to the YMCA for Roman's swim lessons. When we were checking in and walking to the locker room we found out that a baby from the previous class had thrown up in the pool so the later classes that evening were cancelled. I thought that Roman would be sad about the situation but he was so excited to run over to the pool windows and "Look for the barf". Ugh. He and his buddy Easton watched the poor pool workers clean out the area with a vacuum like machine for probably 10 minutes. 5 year old boys = Obsessed with Puke.
After watching the pool clean up, Roman and I ate some food and read together while Lucy attended Girl Scouts.
Lucy's troop made some tissue paper flowers on this night.
On Friday we all went to work and school. I had some time to zip over to the neighborhood toy store and pick up a few last minute Christmas gifts before getting the kids.
Lucy swims on Friday afternoon with her After School program so we went to pick her up at the YMCA pool. They had a 'I am Thankful for ... ' display at the YMCA on this night so Lucy added her ideas to the mix.
Friday = Popcorn night at the YMCA so we grabbed a few bags on our way out the door.
We like to have movie night on Fridays so it works out perfectly with the popcorn situation. :) The kids changed into their jammies and brought their beanbags downstairs for lounging.
On this night we watched Frosty the Snowman.
On Saturday morning Lucy and Roman made choker necklaces out of green and yellow rubber bands. Lucy got a bucket of literally thousands of tiny rainbow colored rubber bands for crafting and finger weaving. She shared with her bro and they quickly put together some jewelry.
We went to our Keyboarding class on Saturday morning. We meet up with Ms. Joanne and some other kids for piano lessons in the basement at St. Augustine's.
During ear training and listening exercises, Roman decided to take a break. He told me, "Mom - I am the resting tone." Hahaha! I love this guy's sense of humor. :)
Here are some pictures of the children during the class sharing time. Roman played Hot Cross Buns and Lucy played Jolly Old St. Nicholas on this day.
On our way home we stopped at the Dollar Store because Lucy had a few dollars of birthday money that was burning a hole in her pocket. She picked out a few small treasures!
We got home and played outside after lunch. When the kids come inside I always have them change their wet winter clothes in the laundry room.
And, just to show you that our life is not all rainbows and unicorns ... Lucy was up most of the night on Saturday because she was sick. She threw up a couple of times and complained about a sore throat.
I had a feeling that she had strep throat ... this poor girl seems to get strep every single year! Lucy never runs a high temp and her throat never looks awful but if she ever throws up and complains about her throat, I immediately take her to the clinic. I still have some post traumatic stress from the whole strep-induced HSP medical drama from 3 years ago. Ugh!
Here were are waiting for the quick strep test results....
Poor little peanut! The test came back positive right away and our provider told us that there was tons of strep going around. So thankful that we took her in right away and got her started on antibiotics. We picked up some Ginger Ale, popsicles, and meds and returned home for a day of rest.
As we head into Thanksgiving Week, our family has so much to be thankful for! Happy and healthy kids, a sweet baby on the way, a roof over our heads, food in our bellies, good jobs, dear friends, and a supportive family.
Here is Lucy's list of gratitude this year:
Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! xoxo
