School Days

I wanted to do a quick post about the latest and greatest at Lucy's day care, the Children's Learning Center. This fall Lucy moved from the Badger Room to the Beaver Room. The Beaver Room is for the 4 year old and 4K kids so it has a preschool focus. It was been so precious to watch her learn more and more about letters, numbers, sight words, etc. She loves every minute of it.

For one of her first Beaver Room projects she had to fill this little white paper bag with some of her favorite things. The kids were supposed to tell their classmates about the contents of the bag during show and tell. I tasked Lucy with finding a few of her favorite things and she quickly darted away to fill her bag. When I found her about 15 minutes later this little bag was literally bursting at the seams! She filled it completely full of her little treasures. Haha! That's our Lucy! :)

I had her narrow it down to a few things and a handful of pictures. She ended up choosing her Simba action figure, a small cake because she loves birthdays, and her Smokey the Bear eraser that she got with Grandma and Grandpa. :)

Lucy knows the letters in her name, she decorated this sweet letter L at school. She has a new little friend at the CLC named Lena and she is so pumped that they share the same first initial. :)

The kids like to wear their Packers gear to school on Fridays. Roman is quite the cheerleader these days. Go Pack Go!

This is a book that Lucy put together after she participated in an apple taste test. She had to choose adjectives to describe the various apples that she tried. She would circle the applicable words like crunchy, red, green, and yummy or yucky. :)

Lucy is learning how to use scissors and glue!

And she is learning some sight words. This is a book about the word here.

It had all kinds of fall objects like pumpkins ...

...and sweaters. She proudly told me that this is a Packers sweater. :)

We hope that you always love school, Lucy!

Labor Day Weekend

We had a nice and relaxing Labor Day holiday this year, we celebrated two 40th birthdays over the long weekend!

I kicked off the weekend with a 40th birthday party for my co-worker and good friend, Jessica. It was a really entertaining evening in beautiful Crandon! ;) Daniel was with his crew on this night doing their fantasy football draft so a huge thank you goes out to Laura for watching the kids!!

The kids had a great time playing with Jacob and Evelyn while mom and dad had a night out!

They even got to watch a movie

and eat popsicles! What a treat!

We tried to spend as much time as we could outdoors over the weekend knowing that the seasons change quickly in northern WI. During one of our walks with Ranger, the kids were lucky enough to find and capture a snake! They were so excited.

In this picture Lucy has the snake and Romy found a little toad. I love it!

My snake handler! :)

We also hit the road for some bike rides! My mom and sisters in law found this double chariot at a consignment store last year. The knew that I was looking for one and quickly texted me. I had them buy it right away! The double chariots are kind of hard to find on the used market. The kids do pretty well back there. I was worried that there would some hitting or poking of eyes but they enjoy just looking outdoors, eating their snacks or reading books in back. They just cruise along while mama gets a workout! On Saturday evening we grilled out with friends and celebrated Jeff's big 4-0. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from that party! Too busy! :)

It poured most of Sunday. We did meet up with friends at Buck Lake and we were lucky to get the one and only picnic shelter! Of course rain means that the kids can catch more frogs and toads!

On Monday, it was very hot and sticky outside so the kids and I headed to Eagle River to spend time at the children's museum. As always, we had a good time ...

Playing in the cabin ...

Going Fishing,

Getting groceries,

And playing dress up!

Cheers to a great summer! Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!

End of August Happenings

Here are some snapshots of the end of August activity at the Storm household.

Our 2 year old made a visit to the doctor for his first sinus infection!

We held dance parties in our living room.

We enjoyed time with Ranger. :)

We took nature walks and found interesting thing like this mushroom! In the summer time we get all kinds on interesting mushrooms in our woods. This one in particular was a big hit with the kids. Lucy thought it was beautiful.

Lucy continues to be an adventurer at night - staying in her bed / bedroom all night is a challenge! :) There are nights when we find her tucked away in her teepee. As long as she is asleep, I don't really mind where she ends up! Haha!

We spent many Saturdays visiting the park and farmers market. On this day we met up with our friends Miriam and Ed. There were some special bubbles to try out at the market.

The kids were very excited to experiment!

Lucy is becoming skilled at husking corn! Nothing like a good ear of sweet corn to signify the end of summer. :)

We cooked up lots of salmon from Daniel's fishing adventures.

Our artist in residence!

The kids love to catch toads and frogs in our yard.

Lucy is great at catching little creatures and she is schooling her brother on her methods.

Roman loves to splash in puddles.

We harvested some of our tomatoes from our container garden. As you can see - clothing was optional. Haha!

Yay for summertime!

One more birthday post!

Just one more quick post on Roman's 2nd birthday! On his actual birthday - August 26, our little man got a sweet birthday crown at day care.

He was pretty excited to open a few more gifts and to eat some left over train cake. :)

Trying on his new winter coat from Auntie Mallory, Uncle Austin and cousins. Yes, it is the end of August and we are eager to try on winter coats! Haha! Living where we do, we are always thinking about winter. :)

It was time for more cake!

I am pretty sure that more smashing occurred at Roman's 2nd birthday versus his 1st. :)

The kids definitely needed a bath after their cake!

Happy Birthday Romy!!

A birthday weekend with puppies!

Grandpa Ken and Grandma Nola came to Wisconsin to celebrate Roman's birthday and they brought their new addition - a sweet Brittany pup named Chester. Chester is just a couple of weeks older than Ranger. The dogs were best friends all weekend.

How cute is this guy?

Giving Roman kisses.

Roman loving his dog.

Lucy enjoyed the puppies too.

Haley was along for the trip as well! She was not a big fan of Chester and Ranger's antics. :)

After lots of play, the puppies snuggled together.

 How sweet is this? :)

Thanks Grandpa Ken and Grandma Nola for bringing Haley and Chester to Wisconsin. Roman loved spending time with puppies over his birthday weekend!
