Sweet Corn

We went to the Farmers Market today and picked up some sweet corn. It was delicious and a perfect treat for dinner on the last day of August. Lucy helped Grandma and Grandpa husk corn on our front steps.

She especially likes pulling off all of the little hairs!

At dinner, Lucy sported a face full of butter!

Yummy!

Saturday at the Storms

What a difference a week makes! :) Last Saturday I was super pregnant and uncomfortable. I am so glad that our sweet baby boy arrived! We had a great day at the Storm household.

Baby Roman lounged with his papa

He was super alert this morning and relaxed on his boppy

Dad showed him some black and white flashcards, here is our little guy studying a worm! :)

It was a beautiful day so Grandma Sharon, mom, Lucy and Roman went to the Farmers Market. We were kind of obnoxious with 2 big strollers but we had a great time!

After dinner Lucy told us that she wanted to hold her baby Roman. So Daddy let her hold him in his lap - she was a very proud big sister!

Here is Lucy pointing out Roman's nose

A picture of all of us

We love you little Roman! Welcome to our family!

It's hot outside!

It has been pretty hot outside during Roman's first week with us! Unfortunately, our rental house does not have central air conditioning so we have been doing our best to stay cool.

We spent most of our Friday lounging in the basement.
Here is big sister Lucy Bear playing Peek-A-Boo with the camera.

Our little sweetheart!

Tonight it finally started feeling cool outside so we went out for a nice walk. The breeze felt amazing!

Here is little Roman in his stroller. Don't you just love his hair?

He wasn't too happy to be out and about at first but after we got moving and he had his pacifier in place, he was just fine. :) This kiddo loves his pacifier!

Chilling at the park!

We are looking forward to some cooler fall days coming up soon.

Roman's first outing

We took Roman to his first checkup with Dr. Rainwater on Thursday afternoon. Our big boy was 9 lb 5 oz when he was born but he lost about a pound during our time at the hospital, when we took him home he weighed about 8 lbs 6 oz. Roman had quite a bit of fluid in his little nasal passages so he was a very snorty baby for his first couple of days of life and not super interested in eating. Anyway - that has definitely changed; he is very interested in eating now! Dr. Rainwater said that Roman is perfect, that he is weighing in at 8 lbs 7 oz so he is starting to gain weight again. Our guy is off the charts for height! :)  We'll go back to the office in a couple of weeks for our 2 week well child visit.

We love you little man!!

Roman's first days!

Here are some pictures of baby Roman during our stay at the hospital.

He was visited by Grandma and Grandpa Hoekman who traveled to Madison from South Dakota on Tuesday night to meet their newest grandson.

Here is our family of four!

I just love the look on Lucy's face in this photo. She is so excited to be a big sister. :)  She likes counting Roman's fingers and toes, she tries to tickle him, she gets blankets and diapers for him -- it is very cute. We have only had one jealous meltdown this week when Lucy wanted to breastfeed from mama after Roman was finished!

Flowers from Grandma and Grandpa!

Thanks for all of the of the calls, texts, and good wishes everyone!! We love you guys!

Our new place!

So I was working on this blog post yesterday when I started having contractions. :) It was going to be a dual post consisting of me whining about making it to 41 weeks of pregnancy plus showing all of the nesting that I have been doing in our new place. So I have deleted all of my pregnancy related complaints in light of recent events and I will just show the photos of the house!

Starting with the cutest room - here is Lucy and Roman's bedroom! They will share this space, and given that Roman will be sleeping in the side car next to our bed for the time being, they should be all set!

Lucy's side of the room with her bird theme.

Roman will have a woodland creatures theme. :)

Our room, complete with Lucy's doll sleeping in the baby's side car. Haha!

The guest room! Full disclosure, Dan and I have been sleeping in here because of the sweet window fan. The fan keeps the space super cool at night.

Our kitchen! Compared to our space on Powers Avenue, it is huge! It is really nice to be able to have more than 1 person in the kitchen at a time.

Added bonus: Enough counter space for the Kitchen aid mixer!!

Our dining room,

The living room,

And our basement rec room. There are 2 stuffed heads on the wall courtesy of the owners - a boar and a buffalo. Every time that Lucy runs downstairs she yells, 'Pig and buffalo!!!' It is really funny.

And what about the rest of our stuff?? It is all packed away in storage rooms/the garage! Yikes! I am kind of scared about moving the second time around!!

It's a Boy!!

He was a week late but when he decided it was time to be born our little guy was fast and furious!! We are proud to announce the arrival of our sweet baby boy Roman Daniel Storm. He was born on August 26, 2013 at 9:09pm. He is a big guy - a full pound heavier than his sister - weighing in at 9 lb 5 oz! From start to finish labor was 4 hours long! What a huge difference from our marathon labor with Lucy! He has a great head of dark hair and he is a total snuggle bug. We love him so much already and we know that Lucy is going to be an awesome big sister.

This mama is super thankful, aside from going 41 weeks, I got everything I wanted! This little guy waited patiently inside my belly as we moved and closed on our house. :) He also came without being induced, with no meds which is what I was hoping to happen. Daniel and I are so very blessed to have 2 healthy children. Welcome to the world baby Roman!

Patiently waiting

We are still waiting for our little baby to arrive! Here is what we have been up as we pass the time:

Lucy is busy trying out all of the baby's things. When she can't personally fit - she will test them out on her dolls. (Lucy had a scary moment this afternoon when she couldn't pull herself out the Bumbo seat without mama's help). Here is Lucy giving her baby a bath in the little tub.

I have been trying the usual tricks to induce labor - including eating lots of spicy food. Bad news = No labor, just heartburn. :(

We went out to dinner with Lucy. One of our last dinners out as a family of three!

We have been spending lots of time with our sweet Lucy Bear! Here are a couple of pics from her last weekend as an only child!

Please come soon baby Storm!

First package at our new place

Yesterday Lucy received a box in the mail from Grandma and Grandpa Storm. It was the first package at our new house. She was so excited! Here are some photos of her opening the box.

Tearing off the paper

Lots of concentration - don't you love her rooster tail? :)

Sticking out her tongue and...

Finding an awesome present inside!

Thanks for the sweet owl purse, books, and stickers, Grandma and Grandpa! Lucy loves them!

Update on Baby Storm #2

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday afternoon!

Here is the latest:
1. I am measuring at 39 weeks
2. Blood pressure is fine
3. I am 3 cm dilated

I haven't had any contractions yet and no signs of labor so we did end up scheduling an induction for Wednesday, August 28. Either way, the baby will be here in less than a week!

A recent picture of me - hanging out in the somewhat cooler basement!

PS I had to remove the 'How Big is Baby?' widget because it was driving me crazy! :)

Still Waiting...

We are still eagerly anticipating the arrival of Baby Storm! I put a bunch of tiny baby clothes in our little one's dresser drawers last night while Lucy practiced making a bed for the baby. It is hot and sticky outside and this mama is tired of being pregnant! :) I have a doctors appointment this afternoon and I promise to keep you posted on the latest and greatest.

The August 20's

We are finally to the August 20's so that means that baby Storm will be arriving very soon. Yay! That being said, no signs of labor yet. We are going on walks every evening, I am trying to walk this baby out! Tonight we stopped by the garden which has been quite neglected lately. We picked a ton of tomatoes. Yum!

It has been getting hot outside so I am ready to not be pregnant anymore! One of the nice things about our new place is that we have a ice/water dispenser in our refrigerator. Little luxuries. :)

Weekend Update: Lots of moving & Unpacking!

It was a crazy weekend of moving and unpacking at the Storm household. While Daniel moved the remaining items from Powers Avenue and cleaned the house, I did my best to corral Lucy and unpack at the new place. We also made a last-Costco-run-before-baby trip and bought lots of stuff! :) Once things are a bit more settled, I will post some pictures of our rental property. Right now it is still pretty chaotic!

We did officially attach the baby side car to our bed this Sunday - Lucy refers to it as "Baby's bed". It is super cute. Hopefully baby Storm will be sleeping there instead of in my belly very soon!

On Sunday night we had friends over for dinner as a reward for a long weekend of work and as motivation to clean up the mess in the house! Haha! Here are Lucy and Charlotte enjoying dessert.

A couple of shout outs - one to Melissa who graciously helped Dan move stuff to the truck, put some of our furniture out on the curb, and who organized Lucy's closet! You are the best!

Also to Daniel who was a rockstar this weekend!! He moved and cleaned liked nobody's business! Best.husband.ever. :)
