Happy November

November at the Storm household is the kickoff to the birthday and holiday season! We have Lucy's birthday at the beginning of the month followed closely by Paul and Abby's celebrations, Thanksgiving, Uncle Brad's Birthday and then Christmas! Times just flies by once November arrives.

We had an extra special birthday this year because our sweet girl turned 5!! I can hardly believe it! Grandma Nola came to our house to celebrate. We had a bonfire with Grammy. Nothing better than a fall fire and smores! :)

Grandma was able to scoop up some post-Halloween sales at some thrift stores so Lucy and Roman got a few more dress up clothes! They were so excited. Here is my little knight and princess with a boa. :)

We even had Woody the cowboy join us! It is hard to find good dress up clothes for boys so we are always so excited when we can find Romy a new costume other than a princess dress! Haha!

These two best friends - together again! Ranger is very excited when Grandpa and Grandma Storm come to visit because they always bring Chester. These two have so much fun together.

We invited Grammy to come to music class with us on Lucy's birthday weekend. The kids were so pumped to have special guests - Grandma and Daddy in Ms. Joanne's music class.

Roman's favorite song at music is Aiken Drum.

Lucy likes Here we go Looby Loo.

It was so nice out that we stopped at the park for a picnic and playtime after music class.

Once we got home, we started party prep.  Lucy helped out with making cupcakes. You can see that we were also putting treat bags together on the dining room table.

Lucy requested lemon cupcakes this year!

After they cooled off, Lucy and Grammy worked on frosting and sprinkles!! Lucy did the decorating herself this year. We had our party at the YMCA this year - birthday pictures coming soon! :)

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from the Storm Household! We had the best night!

Daniel picked up the kids from day care and they headed over to the DNR to go trick or treating at the office. We snapped a quick pic in Daddy's office before heading out for treats!

Here is the crew! Lucy, Evelyn, Alex, Jacob, Roman and Izzy. Love these kids!

After kicking off the evening at the DNR, we drove downtown to meet up with Miriam for some trick or treating in Rhinelander. It was a beautiful night! I am so grateful when we don't have to wear snowpants and heavy coats on Halloween! Haha!

After walking for a few blocks and collecting treats, we headed back to Ed and Amber's for pizza. It was a lot of fun.

The kids get so much candy each Halloween! Between their day care trick or treating at the assisted living, the DNR, and going through Rhinelander, these two have a ridiculous amount of sugar! The past few years, we have swapped out the candy for a small toy. The kids are totally fine with this little exchange!

This year Romy got a Hulk action figure and Lucy got a Snow White ballerina. :)

We love October!

The Storm household absolutely loves fall - we decorate our house with the children's artwork from school.
How cute are these little candy corns?

I volunteered at my first school party this year! I joined Lucy's 4K class on a Friday afternoon to celebrate their Halloween party. Wow! Everyone had lots of sugar and energy so it was a bit crazy but lots of fun! I have lots of respect for my mom and Katie who manage classrooms full of small children each day! I was exhausted after a couple of hours. Haha!

Here is Lucy and her friend Serenity at the popcorn station. :)

After the party we picked up Roman and headed to the library. This picture of them is from the other side of the aquarium. These kids love the turtle, fishes, and other creatures that live in the children's department of the library.

Just some fall art to share - scarecrows and fire safety stuff! Lucy came home from school with a 9-1-1 chant/song that she loves to sing. Ha! If your house is on fire call 9-1-1!

Here are pumpkins that the kids made at day care.

Each fall we like to make a trip to see the Birds in Art Exhibit at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau. This year we attended on a Sunday afternoon.

Of course we stopped by the Great Dane Brewery for lunch before going to the musem. :)

Love the sculpture garden!

Roman is a big fan of the wolf.

The children were captivated by the huge dancing cranes art work.

I love exploring with these two!

We stopped for a quick picture in the big Woodson chair.

We zipped through the exhibits on our way to the children's area. As always, the Birds in Art exhibit was wonderful! The kids love going through the art work and looking for specific things like a puffin or a crane - this is a perfect place for a scavenger hunt. :)

Here we are just flipping through an Audubon book.

We made it to the play area and Lucy and Roman quickly found the bird costumes!

They had fun playing in the nest.

Lucy really enjoyed their shadow art area - she traced and colored various birds and nests from their shadows.

My sweet lil crow!

We read a couple of books.

And checked out an exhibit of 365 little crow drawings - a woman drew a bird a day for a year.

Roman tried his hand at shadow art.

And stacked little bird blocks along the telephone wires. :) What a fun afternoon!

Not so Scary Halloween Trail

We are so lucky to have such an awesome YMCA in our neighborhood! They host so many great activities for families. This year we went to their Not So Scary Halloween Trail. The kids hike around their outdoor running trail and collect treats from various businesses.

Here are our Super Girl and Batman in the parking lot!

They are ready to go.

Here they are collecting candy at one of the stops along the way. Do you like Lucy's L cape? :) She got this from the Easter Bunny earlier this year and wore it as part of her Halloween costume this fall.

Their favorite stop - the Rhinelander police let the kids run through the back of a squad car!

Love these two!

Daddy ended up carrying Romy for part of the way. :)

This was another favorite - several super heroes with stations ... Roman and Lucy loved doing the Hulk Smash game. :)

Finally - here is one of Lucy spinning the steering wheel on the Pirate Ship as part of the Peter Pan exhibit. It was such a fun, crisp fall night!

A couple of other quick photos to share - We put up bat signs on the children's bedroom doors. Such a fun and inexpensive way to celebrate the season!

Happy Halloween everyone!
