This October we visited the Malcolm family in Cedarburg. Our whole family loves making this trek to visit some of our favorite people. :)
We stopped for supper on the way out - the easiest location for a pitstop is the Wisconsin Dells so of course even random fast food restaurants have full arcades!
We arrived with enough time to stretch our legs in the Malcolm play room and give piggyback rides to our friends.
Oh yes, the guys were able to consume an ENTIRE jar of herring on this evening while plotting out their plans for duck hunting the next day.
It is always a joy to see sweet Luna - our living connection back to Chief. She's an elder dog now (15 years old) but still leading a pack of loyal Munsterlanders.
The next morning we ate breakfast. Alexander and Leo are so goofy!
Then we headed out for a morning walk with the pups.
No better way to start the day!
While Shoshana and I were managing the children and doggies back at the ranch; the Karl and Dan were up with the sunrise for their October duck hunt.
They had a great morning. :)
We met up with the guys in the early afternoon for a family trip to the Milwaukee Zoo. The Storm kids love this place and could not wait to see all of the animals.
The zoo was decorated and ready for spooky season.
Our kids adore Clara and Alexander.
Love that we get to see elephants at this zoo!
I had to snap a picture of the giraffe habitat - you can't go far in Wisconsin without seeing exhibits and experiences sponsored by beer companies! LOL!
These two enjoyed their giraffe experience.
Giraffes are even cooler when you are viewing from Daddy's shoulders.
This poor peacock was chased all over the place by our 3 year olds.
The hippos are the fan favorite!
They are just magical! Our crew could spend hours with these beasts.
The hippo come right up to the glass when he was underwater and of course this critter both yawned and pooped for us so everyone was very impressed.
We had to continue an annual tradition of grabbing a group photo in the hippo statue's mouth.
10 out of 10 recommend this hippo exhibit - a must see at the Milwaukee Zoo.
Before we left the zoo, we had to stop and see this beautiful cheetah.
It was feeding time for these critters and the children got to watch the great circle of life in action as the cheetahs chowed down on these white bunnies.
Our Leo was a big fan of the wild cat area.
The tiger was so close to the windows!
Everyone wanted a picture with this guy!
It was a perfect autumn afternoon at the zoo.
After our adventures we returned to the Malcolm residence and cleaned birds.
We had a bonfire in the evening. :)
We roasted hot dogs for supper.
We also had s'mores and watched the stars come out.
The next day we visited the beautiful Lion's Den Gorge.
It had great bluffs and nice Lake Michigan views.
This one wanted nothing to do with group photos. Ugh.
Just some spectacular scenery from our hike.
These cuties enjoyed the hike along the cliffs.
It was such a cool spot and we highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
We ended the fun weekend with rock throwing into the big lake and having brunch with our dear friends.
Thanks for everything, Malcolm fam!
