Leo is 8 months old!

In the midst of all the Storm family back to school excitement, our baby boy turned 8 months old! Leo brings such joy to our lives. He is crawling and scooting all over the place. He is a curious kiddo and discovering all kind of things. :)

Leo has the best little grin and is starting to give good hugs and smooches.

He is also discovering eyeballs and belly buttons!

My boys are 5 years apart and I know that the window of time where I can put them in matching outfits is extremely limited. Hah! I am sure that Roman will decline to participate in my twinning goals pretty soon so I am going to take advantage of it while I can. This season I found matching Halloween jammies for my boys. How cute are these handsome guys?

Roosevelt Field Trip

This fall I had the opportunity to accompany some very special 2nd graders on their field trip to the Beaver Creek Nature Center. What a fun way to spend a Friday! Lucy was excited for me to sit next to her on the bus. We snapped a selfie along the way. :)

We learned about insects and played in pond water.

We talked about honeybees and did a pollination relay race.

No better way to spend a sunny fall day than being outdoors!

It was also very good for my mama heart to see Lucy starting to make new friendships!

Lucy hunted for bugs with her new friend Kathryn.

We had the best day! I had a great time being a field trip mom. That being said, after a spending a full day with these kids, I was exhausted! I am not cut out to be a teacher. Hah!

We returned to school, went home for supper and circled back to Roosevelt for a Back to School party on the playground. Leo was so happy to swing.

And Lucy quickly found some of our neighborhood girls for playtime.

It was a very full and fun Friday.

Back to School

Once we were back from our Storm family vacation, we started getting into school mode! Lucy was excited to label all of her things.

We took a little break because Dad found a tiny little skink in our backyard; the kids were so excited to take a look especially when it dropped its tail!

Eau Claire starts the school year with a day to drop off supplies, meet the teacher, and introduce the kids to their classroom.

These two had full back packs and were ready to check out their new school!

First up, Roman's Kinder classroom! He did a little scavenger hunt and dropped his stuff into the common supply buckets. Romy is so excited to start kindergarten this fall.

Lucy's 2nd grade classroom was just down the hall from her brother. She found her desk right away. The kids go to a great little neighborhood school, there are 2 classrooms per grade and lots of people live close enough to walk.

The first day of school fell on a Tuesday which is Lucy's dance night. She is taking a ballet/jazz/tap combo class this year. She loves having a variety of different dances, I love that they are all back to back in one class! Here is a precious pic of Lucy from her first day of ballet when she was just 4 years old and another from her first day at En Avant.  :)

Lucy had her first official day of 2nd grade on Wednesday. We took her official first day of school photos in our backyard.

The first day of school for Kindergarten kids is broken into 2 different days, the first one is for kiddos with last names ranging from A-M, then the N-Z children report to school. So Roman got another day at home while big sister headed to class.

When we lived in Rhinelander, we always dropped the kids off at school so riding the bus is a new thing! I always hated riding the bus as a kid but Lucy and Roman are pumped to hop on in the morning. Haha!

Lucy had a great first day of 2nd grade and, on Thursday, we did it all again for Roman!
We took his first day of Kinder pictures in the backyard.

This time we sent both kids out to the bus stop.

Roman came home from school that day proudly sporting his first day of Kindergarten crown.

Because it was a Thursday afternoon, Roman zipped home, had a snack, and then put on his kyuki-do uniform. He is taking martial arts classes this year. We are hoping that this will provide him with some listening skills, self-discipline, and exercise ...

Added bonus - how cute does he look in this little uniform? I love my little ninja!

Storm Family Vacation - Part 2

Throwing it back again to Storm family vacation!

Man I wish it was summer again ... no better way than starting the day on the water.

Roman and James played in the sand. :)

Lucy climbed trees.

Even Ranger enjoyed a swim.

My sweet mermaid Lucy found some water lilies to pick.

We brought our canoe along and had lots of fun paddling in the water.

Roman had the best time canoeing with his Daddy and Grandpa.

Brad played guitar for us on the beach.

Grammy Nola threw training dummies off of the dock for the pups.

We went on a great family hike at Taylors Falls.

There was the just a little bit of crisp fall weather in the air!

Dan carried sweet baby Leo in the front pack.

It reminded me of the time that he carried Lucy all over Norway in the Baby Bjorn just 7 years earlier. Lucy is on the left and Leo is on the right.

My big kids loved exploring! I can't believe that we have a 2nd grader and a kindergartener on our hands.

It was such a good place for rock climbing.

Awwww! I just love this sweet picture of Brad and Carissa (and Remus!)

We checked out the river and the boys waved at the riverboats cruising by!

We snapped pictures with Grammy and Grandpa.

Definitely recommend a visit to Insterstate Park!

Finally, Grammy bought the boys the cutest matching astronaut t-shirts.

We tried to get a picture of everyone but, with 2 kids under 2 plus a 3 year old, it is a rare situation where everyone is happy at picture time. Haha!

We love you to the moon and back, Storm family!
